US takes lead against Germany
Not a good start fort the German team at the 32nd ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP at the Rochusclub in Dusseldorf. Rainer Schuettler lost his first singles match in the duel against the US playing the US-boy Sam Querrey (6-2, 4-6, 2-6). The 33-year old player did win the first set quite fast (6-2), however, had to give in to his opponent, who played the following two sets with more and more confidence and pressure. The tie between Germany and the US will be continued tomorrow, Monday, with the second singles match and the doubles match. Dusseldorf (pps)
Sam Querrey (USA): 'Rainer Schuettler started the first set aggressively and held his game. The decisive moment of the entire match was when I achieved the break in the second set. Afterwards everything went my way.'
Rainer Schüttler (GER): 'Though I lost, I didn't play too bad. It's small matters that are decisive. And against a player such as Querry it is difficult to get back into your own game - when you are hit by serves of more than 210 kilometres per hour as after Querrey's break in the second set. However, I have to admit that Querrey simply played better than me today.'
