Del Potro takes lead for the Argentinean team

The top 5 player, Juan Martin del Potro, brought the 1-0 lead for his team against Italy in the Blue Group. His opponent, Andreas Seppi, hardly had a chance against the 1.98 m tall ‘shooting-star’. Del Potro was quickly up 4-0 in the first set which he won 6-3. Only after 1 hour 12 minutes he took the second set 6-4. It was del Potro’s first singles performance at the ARAG WORLD TEAM CUP 2009.

The tie Argentina against Italy will be continued tomorrow with the second singles and the doubles match. Argentina had lost its first tie against Serbia and therefore needs a victory over Italy in order to have a chance to capture the title. Dusseldorf (pps)
